Traditional Easter Gifts
Easter gifts for kids generally include candy, chocolate Easter bunnies, Easter gift baskets or perhaps a stuffed animal. For women it is common to give a gift of flowers, especially Easter lilies. The Easter lily represents Christ, who is the “Lily of the Valley”. Jesus said "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; and yet..... Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
Other Easter Gift Ideas
The message of Easter is the greatest gift anyone can share. God gave His son, Jesus Christ as a sacrifice, a payment for our sins. Jesus took our sins and offers full pardon and forgiveness of sins for all who will put their trust in Him as their Savior. The Bible says, “Whoever believes sin Him will have eternal life.” If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, there is an incredible book called The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus that we recommend reading. You can read the whole book online by clicking here. It is the true story of Easter, presented in an exciting narrative. On the day of the resurrection, Jesus was walking along the road to Emmaus and he explained how all of the Old Testament stories were pointing to his life, his death and his resurrection! A fantastic book that everyone should read!
Easter Traditions
Easter is such a special time of year for every Christian, a holiday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is one of those holidays where almost everyone goes to church, and we follow with a big family dinner and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. The Easter egg and the hunt have nothing to do with Christianity. In Medieval Europe eating eggs was forbidden during Lent, so the people would boil the eggs to preserve them, and eat all the eggs they collected during Easter. Somewhere along that time people began having fun with hiding and coloring Easter eggs and the Easter bunny was added as the one who laid the hidden eggs.
